Day 3

I skipped the third story. I took a photo of the start of it so you get the gist. I’m getting my mind into a folk-tales space. While the blurring between folk knowledge & religion is interesting in its own right, that’s not really what I’m curious about right now.

Instead I skipped to story 4. An odd tale… I like that there often isn’t strong moralising in these stories. Or at least they are more ambiguous than the versions we are used to.

It’s also interesting deciding what moment to illustrate. Here we see the titular boy’s kindness and thick-headed nature in one—bringing the hanged men down to warm by his fire.
