Day 1

I’m doing a bit of folktale research so I dug out my copy of Grimm’s Tales. Going to try to read & draw one a day. Except I’m not quite quick enough to finish a drawing in a day. Hopefully, I’ll get quicker as I go…

Here’s what I had at the end of day 1…

I decided to use the comics’ conceit of showing multiple moments in a single frame to illustrate the turning point of the story—when the frog turns into a prince. Not through a kiss, but through the bratty princess throwing her helpful frog friend into a wall, presumably aiming to kill him. Instead, she ends up marrying him. As you do.
